We Grow
We believe Jesus is the perfect example for each of us and it is our calling to strive to be more like Him. But growth takes work—through reading His word, praying, fasting, learning, serving, healing, and forgiving. At ACAC, we want to help our church family stretch and expand to grow individually, as a community and ultimately as children of God, living life here on earth as Jesus did.

Baptism Sunday
We began our 2024/2025 year with a splash—literally! On Sunday, August 25, we offered spontaneous baptisms: no registrations, no classes, just an invitation to make a public, Spirit-led declaration of faith. We celebrated with 76 men, women, and children who chose to be made new in Christ.
Connections Director Gwen Kelley recalls one story: “A young woman with severe back pain had been watching online. She saw the invitation and felt prompted to come in person despite her pain. She arrived, laid on a couch in the Hub until the service began, then was among the first to be baptized. It was amazing to see how God used technology to reach her, and how she responded in obedience.”

Nick F. shared his own experience: “After Pastor Alan gave an incredible sermon about the Holy Spirit, he invited anyone who wanted to be baptized to come up to the stage. Despite this amazing opportunity, I hesitated. At the 10 a.m. service, I watched as one-by-one, Christ-followers stepped forward to be baptized and renewed in the Spirit. It was inspiring – so many people were openly embracing the Holy Spirit.
When service ended, I immediately regretted not participating. Although I had been baptized as a baby in the Catholic Church, I felt that this was something I needed to do. The more I thought about it, the more certain I became. I told my wife, Ria, and she happily agreed to stay for the next service. The baptism experience itself was amazing. As I came out of the water, I truly felt spiritually renewed, like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. Just as a shower washes away dirt from the body, this baptism felt like a cleansing of my soul.”

Soul Care
True growth can’t be limited to an hour on Sundays. It’s a lifelong process, which is why we offer Life Groups, Bible studies, and Mid-Week Connection classes. Among these is Soul Care, an interactive journey designed to help participants confront barriers to intimacy with God and others.
Philip K., who joined Soul Care for men, shared: “If I’m being honest, I thought I had signed up for a Bible study. I had no idea it was Soul Care, and I’m not sure I would have chosen it. But in the end, it was exactly what I needed. I was struggling—mentally, emotionally, spiritually—and it was taking a toll on my marriage. I was dealing with unresolved trauma and anger, and it seemed like my life was about to implode. I was hurt, sad, and looking for answers. I felt isolated and alone, believing nobody could relate.
Soul Care gave me a safe, non-judgmental place to be vulnerable. I was with a diverse group of men, who became a brotherhood, all a bit broken, looking to be heard and understood. And I’m not going to lie-it was hard work.
Slowly, I was able to take my life back. I began to give myself grace and release the impossible standards I was trying to maintain. I came to understand what it means to be seen and understood by God, and I began to see myself as a good person, with value, created for a purpose.”
Philip’s wife Jojo echoed the transformation:“It changed his life and our relationship. We were finally able to grow. Now, when we face challenges, I can see him reaching back to what he learned in Soul Care to help us through.”
Philip now encourages others:
“When you hit that point of exhaustion and you’re ready to surrender what’s been holding you back, Soul Care is the place to start. It’s the trauma kit that helps you clean up old wounds and heal the scars that keep you stuck.
