Ephesians Adventure Memory Verse
Our Ephesians Adventure Memory Verse Program is still running. May is memory verse month, so all of the kids can recite their memory verses and be rewarded! This year, kids can submit their verses in a couple ways:
- Send us a video of you saying your verses! You can do this on Facebook, Instagram, email any of the CM staff, or text your video to our program cell phone at 412-841-0021.
- You can also call our program cell phone and recite them to Mrs. Krista! (If she doesn’t answer, leave a voicemail.)
- Some of you are meeting with your teachers on Zoom, and you can recite them to your teachers there.
We don’t know yet what the reward will be for saying memory verses and it may not happen until we are able to be back together, but we will let families know!
What is The Ephesians Adventure?
The Grade School Memory Verse Program here at Allegheny Center Alliance Church has evolved over the years to become a great adventure! Children in grades 1-5 can participate and excel as they seek to “hide God’s word in their hearts”.
A few years ago, thanks to the principles taught by Dr. Rob Reimer in his book “Soul Care”, God was very clear that we needed to change the culture of memory work for our grade school aged children. And so, we began with the “Ephesians Adventure”.
In 2018-19 we chose 8 specific verses from Ephesians 1, to begin our new Memory Verse Program because it captures a great foundation of our identity in Christ. Over the years, I ministered to many of our youth who have walked away from their faith and are searching for their identity. It is heartbreaking. We all know that what we believe about ourselves influences our choices. I firmly believe that we need to equip our children with the word of God in their hearts, so they will be able to combat the lies in this world and what Satan is telling them! The Children’s Ministries department is honored to come alongside parents and families as we endeavor to achieve this goal.
With one year of success behind us, we decided to continue the Ephesians Adventure. Eight additional verses have been chosen from Ephesians 4 for our children to memorize.
In addition, we have daily devotions written specifically for Ephesians. These and other memory aids are available at Memory Verse Command Central, located near the Children’s Ministries Information Center. The verse emphasis changes monthly, but the goal here is not to merely memorize or even cram the words in a short time but to plant the Word of God deeply into every heart!
- If a child recites this month’s verse, they may receive a prize from the special Memory Verse Prize Box located in classroom cupboards,
- In May of 2020, if they say this year’s verses, they will receive a medal during church.
- Additionally, in May of 2020, if they say this year’s verses, AND last year’s verses they will receive a trophy during church.
You are invited to come and join the adventure anytime!
