Sermon Notes: Living Like Jesus
Pastor Alan Hannah | September 21 & 22, 2024
ACAC DNA… the essence of who we are.
1. We are Spirit-led.
2. We pursue God’s presence and proclaim His truth.
3. We love people where they are.
4. We are a diverse community of faith.
5. We strive to become more like Jesus
15…We will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. [Ephesians 4:15]
21For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. [1 Peter 2:21]
15I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16I tell you the truth; slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them. [John 13:15-17]
34So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” [John 13:34-35]
“Disciple is a noun, not a verb.” – John Mark Comer [Practicing the Way]
5This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. 6So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. [1 John 1:5-6]
6Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did. [1 John 2:6]
If we claim to live in Jesus, we must live as Jesus did.
5“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me, you can do nothing. [John 15:5]
“What would Jesus do if he were me?”
You are writing a gospel a chapter each day.
By the deeds that you do, by the words that you say;
Men read what you write, whether faithless or true.
Say—what is the gospel, according to you? [Poem By: Paul Gilbert]
