ACAC Volunteers are needed to help the North Side Christian Health Center (NSCHC)
with their urgent Quiet C-19 Care Campaign.
COVID-19 is having a devestating impact on the most socially and economically vulnerable communities in our society, including minority and immigrant communities like those found on the North Side of Pittsburgh. In this season, the NSCHC has been asked by local health authorities to lead a campaign focused on Covid health education, self-swab testing and safety among our North Side neighbors.
After our very successful partnership providing drive-through Covid testing events at ACAC in late May and early June, the health center has once again turned to our church to help with this critical new community initiative.
Starting Friday July 31, the health center will be offering a free walk-up Covid test site just outside our Union Place Building. Of course, medical personnel from the health center will do all the clinical work associated with the testing, but ACAC people can help with set-up, registration, distribution of masks and Covid health information, and tear down.
Other volunteers are needed to assist the health center doing follow-up health surveys and contact tracing. This work can be done by phone from the comfort of your home, and no prior experience is necessary- your training will be provided.
This initiative is expected to continue into mid-to-late August or until the urgent Covid-related health issues in our own community subside.
