ACAC Community Development Initiatives
The second Great Commandment, "love your neighbor", compels us to extend God's love not only to those who worship regularly with us, but to all in our North Side communities. And for many years the expression, "offering help, hope and healing in Jesus' Name", has been a clarion call to members of our congregation to reach out to our neighbors in loving and life-transforming ways.
As a result, community outreach is not restricted to a particular ministry department of the church, but is part of our DNA as a congregation. Within our Children's Ministry, God's love is extended to neighborhood kids in our mid-week Clubs, our After School Place educational program, our Church in the Park ministry in area neighborhoods, and our 6-week all day Summer Day Camp. A new program using training and materials from the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) is available for our students, and free legal advice for low-income families is available at ACAC through our partnership with Christian Legal Aid of Pittsburgh.
Exciting things are happening in our Counseling Ministry, as the Christian Counselors' Collaborative has allowed us to extend the availability of Christian counseling services well beyond the walls of the church and into our neighborhoods. All manner of professional therapy is available, regardless of ability to pay.
