Construction & Maintenance Worker

Position Status: Full Time

Supervisor:  Pastor of Operations

Position Schedule:  40 hrs/wk; Saturday and Sunday off

Position Summary: This position is for a skilled general contractor who wishes to make a difference by keeping our church repaired and managing / performing construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Reports any repairs, problems, etc. that are discovered/observed to the operations coordinator.
  • Communicates with operations coordinator regarding the progress of assigned tasks.
  • Responsible for working closely with operations coordinator, who gathers, sorts, and prioritizes all building improvements and maintenance work orders from the ministries. Works off the task list for assignments..
  • Able to lead and perform various construction and repair projects. These may include remodeling, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, carpentry, drywall, and other skills.
  • Assists with building walk-through as needed.
  • Organizes contractors and employees throughout assigned projects and oversees associated work as needed.
  • Keep workshop, maintenance, and warehouse areas clean and organized.
  • Respond to any emergency needs of the church: custodial, maintenance, medical, security, etc.
  • Security: Assist with keeping the campus safe.
  • Assist with snow removal.

Required Qualifications

  • Shall be in agreement with biblical principles and be able to operate under Allegheny Center Alliance Church’s statement of faith, values, and mission.
  • Must be a person of high integrity, a strong work ethic, dependable, responsible, and self-motivated.
  • Highly organized and energetic with ability to work interdepartmentally and independently.
  • Have keen sense of project management; able to multi-task effectively.
  • Good understanding of the importance of community and relationship building.
  • Handle confidential situations and maintain confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

  • Verbal communication:  Talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word) and hearing (perceiving the nature of sounds) are required.
  • Utilize sight on the job:  specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 40 pounds.
